Overview:
GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Under the general direction of the Executive Director, the Dir, iCELS Standardized Patients Program (SP Program) is responsible for staff planning and supervision, budget development, review and analysis of ongoing SP Program activities, maintaining compliance with administrative policies and procedures. Additionally, the Director is responsible for the overall strategic and daily business operations of the SP Program, including the development, expansion, and marketing of programs and initiatives that serve UMass Chan and external constituents. As part of these efforts, the Director, iCELS SP Programs will develop and execute SP Program business plans and manage Program resources.
Responsibilities:
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage day-to-day SP Program administration and operations including teaching and learning, research and innovation.
- Develop novel business lines to maximize impact, resource utilization and expertise.
- Draft and oversee the SP program budget including labor, operating and capital expenses to maintain effective workflow and Program quality control.
- Create updates and represent the department in internal and external meetings, as well as in regional and national forums.
- Oversee administrative staff and team development and training.
- Lead SP Program efforts in support of accreditation and strategic planning and prioritize resources to support the mission and vision of the center.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and innovation in SP Program curricula, instructional technologies, and operational systems.
- Maintain security and integrity of SP Program facilities, equipment, and supplies while maximizing their availability for educational sessions.
- Maintain SP Program data security and confidentiality in accordance with applicable, federal, state, and local guidelines.
- Collaborate with faculty on opportunities to complete, present and publish results of SP Program research and quality improvement studies.
- Participate in outreach programs to include conducting facility tours, participating in public relations, student and community engagement.
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and practice standards consistent with the Centers educational objectives.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Masters degree in business, education, healthcare, a related field, or equivalent experience
- 7+ years of related experience including 3 years leadership and management experience (people and projects) in complex organizations
- Demonstrated strategic planning and project management experience.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills required for interaction with medical school faculty and staff at all levels.
- Experience with reporting and quality tracking for institutional accreditation purposes
- Experience in budget development, management, and implementation, including the development and management of grant budgets.
- Advanced level experience required with computer application packages such as Microsoft Office suite.
- Demonstrated experience in business development with ability to maximize margin while holding commitment to mission requirements.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills as evidenced by the preparation of oral and written materials including presentations, proposals, reports, and memoranda both technical and confidential in nature.
- Capacity to manage complex operational priorities, using data systems to support decision making.
- Ability to exercise diplomacy, establish effective working relationships and maintain a high degree of professionalism in dealing with faculty and staff.
- Ability to work on campus and travel to off-site locations.
