LCSW Minimum Qualifications:

  • Degree/Education: Master of Social Work (M.S.W.) degree from a School of Social Work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).
  • Life Support Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) from an American Heart Association accredited program.
  • Experience: Minimum of one (1) year within the past five (5) years in the independent practice of clinical social work/healthcare management for adults, children, families, seniors, or groups.
  • Computer Skill Competency: Each HCW shall demonstrate competency as required in the contract and as follows:
  • HCWs shall have experience working with an electronic health records system and will be expected to possess computer skills sufficient to satisfactorily perform all tasks required as described in Exhibit 5 of the PWS Minimum Qualifications used for this TO.
  • Licensure/Registration: Possess a current, unrestricted license to practice as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in any one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or the U.S. Virgin Islands.

LCSW Job Duties:

  • Coordinate appropriate referrals to community and other Government agencies for services.
  • Independently assess the psychosocial functioning and needs of patients and their family members and formulate and implement a treatment plan, identifying the patient’s problems, strengths, weaknesses, coping skills and assistance needed, in collaboration with the patient, family and interdisciplinary treatment team.
  • Independently conduct psychosocial assessments and provide psychosocial treatment to a wide variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural, ethnic, educational and other diverse backgrounds.
  • Use medical and mental health diagnoses, disabilities and treatment procedures. This includes acute, chronic and traumatic illnesses/injuries, common medications and their effects/side effects, and medical terminology.
  • Implement treatment modalities in working with individuals, families and groups who are experiencing a variety of psychiatric, medical and social problems to achieve treatment goals.
  • Independently provide counseling and/or psychotherapy services to individuals, groups, couples, and families. Must practice within the bounds of the license or certification.
  • Serves as Mental Health Case Management Function Leader; supervises staff in the performance of case management functions; assigns and manages staff caseloads
  • Provides clinical supervision to unlicensed providers of care and mental health technicians.
  • Participates in the orientation and training of other staff.
  • Serves on committees, work groups, and task forces at the facility.
  • Completes medical record documentation and coding, and designated tracking logs and data reporting as required by local MTF/AF/DoD instructions, policies, and guidance.
  • Provides care coordination and follow up planning for individuals being transitioned from inpatient psychiatric units and/or follow up from an emergency department visit or medical hospital admission following a non-fatal suicide attempt.
